Kidsafe SA President
Monique Anninos is the Director Patient Flow at the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN).
Monique was the Nursing Service Director of the Paediatric Emergency Department for almost 12years. Monique has worked at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for 23 years in a number of areas including general medical, Haematology/Oncology, bed management, emergency department and her current position as the Director Patient Flow. She became involved with Kidsafe as a Board Member in 2011. Whilst in role as NSD in PED there were approximately 47,000 children presenting per annum with at least 30% of presentations being trauma related. There are a number of children that come through the Emergency Department doors daily as a result of preventable injuries. Monique believes that prevention is better than cure and that the influential work of Kidsafe is vital in reducing this burden. Within the patient flow role Monique now has oversight across all areas of the WCHN including the Women’s and Babies Division. Through this partnership and in advocating and promoting the Kidsafe message Monique has been worked closely with the CEO to launch the hiring of car seats at WCHN.
As a motivated Board Member and now also as President, Monique advocates not only for Kidsafe initiatives but works in collaboration with the Emergency Department and within her Patient Flow role to promote child safety and injury prevention across the Network. A mother of 2 young boys herself, Monique has witnessed firsthand the devastating impact child deaths and serious injuries have, not only on the individual, but on the family members, friends and whole community.
