Every week in Australia, about 20 children present to an emergency department with a button battery-related injury — that’s more than 1,000 children every year!
Here are some practical things we can all do to reduce the risk to help keep your family safe:
👉 Look for products that don’t use button batteries
👉 Make sure the battery compartments are secure on all products
👉 Even if secure, button battery compartments are not necessarily child-proof, so it’s still a good idea to store these products up high out of the sight and reach of children
👉 Keep spare button batteries locked away out of sight and reach
👉 As soon as you have finished using a button battery, put sticky tape around both sides of it and dispose of it safely
👉 Tell others about the dangers and share these steps

🚨 School is back!! 🗓
Drop-off and pick-up times can sometimes be hectic. Let`s remember our little people can often take longer to alight from the vehicle, so please be patient, and when driving through a school zone, remember to stay under the 25km/h speed limit 🚗
It’s also a good time to remember that children need assistance dealing with roads and traffic until at least 10 years of age.
How can parents and adult carers give kids a hand in traffic?
✅ Hold their hands
✅ Set a good example
✅ Talk with your kids about traffic and safe ways to cross roads
